Poker is a well-known card game that is familiar to most of us, and more specifically, among those who frequent bars. Poker is any of a large number of card games where players place wagers over on which hand is most appropriate, in the same way as the bets are placed over at the betting pools at the casinos. One of the most common styles of poker hands is the full-money, flush, straight flush, and no-limit hold’em. However, there are other ways to play these hands that can help you win a few more chips over your opponents, depending on the situation.
Straight Flush Poker – This poker hand has an Ace into the second card, a five cards dealt from the top of the deck, and a Queen facing either the Aces or Kings. Players who are playing straight flush must raise the bet before the flop and follow through with the raised bet after the flop. The two cards dealt are considered your starting hand, the fifth and seventh cards being your starting hands in a full house, straight flush, or straight flush combination. In this case, the Ace is used to try to steal the pot from under the competitors. The pot is reduced by the total amount of Raises raised.
Wild Card Poker – This poker game is similar to the regular poker hands except you are not limited to having an Ace, King, Jack, Queen, or Jack. You are also not limited to having only two different suits. Instead, you can have any five cards from your hand, one for each of the five different suits, in any suit that you are able to identify as having a wild card possibility. Players who are betting low may want to play this variation because the wild card option means losing the opportunity to make a royal flush if you hit the button.
High Card Poker – This poker hands has the Ace and King or both, in the same spread as the royal flush. Players should be careful with bets in this scenario because you have to use strong hands to prevent getting burned. You can also lose big if you are unable to raise the bet quickly enough. The best hand strategy for this type of showdown is to play your high card to build a strong chip stack before the showdown begins, then use your best hand to take the pot at the showdown.
Pocket Money – This is where the player to the left of the dealer’s left bets all of his chips before the showdown. This is usually a high risk bet because the player can’t raise the bet above his current stake before the showdown. This scenario benefits players who have the ability to get all their chips in before the hand but don’t have a lot of chips to lose. The player who raises the most chips and bets the highest is considered the winner of the hand.
