2006 World Series of Poker Favorites
(June 05, 2006)
With the 2006 tourney just around the corner we decided to share with you our predictions for the main event. Of course with 8000 entrants and the significant influence of Lady Luck herself, we don’t really expect these picks to be taken too seriously. We are simply putting together an outline of the players generally regarded to be this year’s favorites. And with odds starting at 200-1, even the favorites look like long shots.
In April the online casino Aces.com posted who they considered to be this year’s frontrunners. They are as follows:

Although Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, and Howard Lederer are the favorites to win the Big One this year, it truly is anybody’s call to make. Missing from the list? Last year’s winner Joseph Hachem is a notable exception although, judging by his results from this year’s play, his $7.5 million prize money is still occupying most of his time and thoughts. Other previous winners such as Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer were also left off the list. And what about the prospect of a female player walking away with this year’s title? Could Annie Duke or Jennifer Harman withstand the gruelling path and go all the way? We of course will have to wait and see, but the suspense is killing us!
**Visit www.bodog.com to see the different bets you can place on the upcoming WSOP. Here you may bet on the age, gender, and nationality of this year’s winner. You can also call the winning hand. Will it be a straight flush? It’s your call! Remember, it all kicks off on June 25th. See you there!
